Cateye TL-LD1100
Cateye was the first company to build a rear LED and reflector that met British Safety standards and effectively made bulbed rear lights extinct overnight. Their latest multi-LED grenade blows the opposition away.
While each LED might not be the brightest, the effect of all eight rear diodes going off in sequence is hypnotically noticeable. Twin glove-friendly buttons mean you can run any of the four different modes on each of the four LED strips for maximum mind melt of motorists and training partners. The bulbous lensed cylinder includes a full power LED on either end, giving easily the best side safety here. And despite the amount of light it can kick out, the supplied batteries give an impressively long run time.
Where Cateye really shines, though, is their long-term life. We drowned, dropped, button bothered and generally abused the 1100 and it never faltered once. With all this in mind, the seemingly high cost becomes a very wise, long-term investment.
