Review: Endura Xtract helmet

This lid includes a light at the back for additional visibility on the road. Did it leave us dazzled?

The Xtract helmet is a shift away from Endura’s high performance gear (the brand’s official clothing sponsor to the Movistar pro cycling team) and is squarely aimed at commuters and entry-level cyclists.

It’s solid and practical, and from a safety perspective will do the job. Aesthetically, it looks very square on your head and the bug net in-between the vents is a little chunky. However, we were impressed with the padding inside which is nice and comfortable.

It has everything you would expect from a performance helmet, including a ratchet dial at the back and a chinstrap with twin dividers for optimal adjustment. The rear light with three flash settings is a welcome addition and its mount system, combined with USB charging, is wonderfully simple.

It isn’t a dazzler by any means, and shouldn’t be considered as your main backlight, but it’s fine for some extra visibility on your commute.

Verdict: An extra way to be seen on city commutes and at a reasonable price, 78%
