Tannus Musai solid tyres – first look

Not a new idea, but can solid tyres finally come of age?

Solid tyres aren’t a new idea, but they’re one that’s yet to be well executed.

Tannus thinks it’s solved the problem with its range of solid tyres which, as you’ve probably already guessed, have one big bonus: they can’t be punctured.

Instead of being filled with air, Tannus tyres are made of a solid polymer, which means that even if you manage to ride over a bed of nails, you can’t flat.

Tannus is pitching them as training tyres, as presumably the extra weight would hinder their suitability for racing, and Tannus reckons each set can last 9,000km before they need replacing. Price: £99 from www.tannus.co.uk.
