Madison Flux Superlight bike jacket review

We put this tough high-vis jacket to the test during some seriously soggy MTB sessions…

Hi-viz jackets rarely trouble the eye of Jeff Banks, but the Flux Super Light bike softshell jacket from bike distributor big boys Madison is stylish enough to wear away from the trails without too much mocking (we think, anyway) from your buddies.

More importantly, it performed stirringly in the wettest July since the death of Franz Ferdinand (the man, not the band), utilising its immense 20,000mm waterproof rating to keep our body dry on some seriously soggy MTB sessions.

Breathability was adequate enough, with a trio of underarm vents allowing for some airflow around the pits and over the chest.

There are other well-crafted ideas here too, with a silicone print on the shoulders stopping our hydration pack sliding around, a trio of waterproof pockets and a hood that kept out of our peripheral vision. Whether that’s worth £115 quid depends on your bank balance, but we’d certainly recommend this durable and cling-free offering.

Verdict: 85%

Tough, stylish and water-proof creation for MTB adventures.
