Falke Packable Run Jacket review

Now and again a product comes along that changes our perception of the usefulness of a garment – and this women’s jacket from high-end German-brand Falke is just such an item.

>>> Best run jackets of 2014

All too often run jackets leave us feeling like we’re wearing a sweaty, flappy, bin bag, but that’s not the case with this well-thought-out and feather-light (159g) example.

Both windproof and water-repellent, the jacket did an admirable job of keeping us warm on an evening run with a chilly wind and, in showers, the rain just bounces off it. The fit is excellent and its longer length means more of you stays dry.

Breathability is taken care of with technical fabric, mesh panels under the arms and a vented back, while the long front zip opens to reveal a mesh V-panel.

This is genius, as it means you can unzip and cool down without having the jacket flapping around you.

Verdict: Not cheap but fantastic for chilly or wet run sessions, 94%
