CNP Race Energy drink

Excellent, if costly, formulation. Subtle taste will win friends

CNP’s Race Drink is designed to allow athletes to consume large quantities of energy drink without the usual ‘flavour fatigue’ and stomach issues, while still delivering essential energy and hydration.

Using a pH-neutral formulation (gentle on the stomach), its flavour is purposely very subtle, making it more palatable when consumed in large quantities.

A carbohydrate blend of maltodextrin, fructose and waxy maize starch maximises carbohydrate absorption rates, while added electrolyte minerals help replace those lost in sweat.

Mixed as directed, the berry flavour we tested yielded a very delicate, refreshing taste – berry aromas, but with little sweetness and none of the tang/acidity that characterises most energy drinks.

Used during long, hot rides, its subtle flavour and low acidity received a big thumbs up. However, at £1.67 per 500mls, you’ll need deep pockets!
