UK Triathlon announce new events for 2021

Despite 2020 being a tough year for triathlon, one event organiser in particular successfully managed to host covid-compliant races throughout this time and they have added further events to their calendar, taking place at Alderford Lake, just west of Stoke on Trent.

Ultimate Weekend

Set to take place over a long weekend on the 24^th-26^th September, Ultimate Weekend will offer a range of events for all abilities and goals. The long-weekend format means that each discipline will take place on a different day: the swim on Friday, ride on Saturday, and the run on Sunday. Athletes will have a choice of three distances, with quarter (0.6mile swim, 28mile cycle, 6.5mile run), half and full Ironman distances on offer. Inclusive to all abilities and ideal for personal goals, there is also a choice of doing one, two, or all three disciplines, with a different inter-locking medal for each event.

Event organisers paint an optimistic picture of the upcoming race-season: “With full training plans proving difficult last year and this year starting much the same, we hope the Ultimate Weekend gives an opportunity for people to pick and choose one, two or all three disciplines and feel comfortable they can happily achieve the set goal of their choice.”

Another new event from UK Triathlon, this three-race affair will commence in the same freshwater lake as Ultimate Weekend, yet is set for earlier in the year and across one day only, on 19^th June 2021. This summer’s day will see triathletes of all abilities race over a super sprint, sprint and Olympic distance. Starting in the spring-fed Alderton Lake, athletes will then take on the picturesque rolling Shropshire hills before a quiet run along local country lanes.

UK Triathlon organise professional and friendly events across the UK for all abilities, with new events continuing to be added to their 2021 race calendar.
