Review: Asics GEL-DS Trainer 19 women’s run shoe
For overpronators looking for a race-day shoe, these tick all the boxes
The GEL-DS Trainer isn’t Asics’ lightest offering.
What it does do really well, though, is bridge the gap between a race-day shoe and a high-mileage shoe by incorporating elements that nod towards racing – such as a lighter midsole, stretchy mesh upper and glove-like fit – with plenty of gel cushioning.
This shoe is aimed at overpronators, so would be a good choice if you need support. The close fit of the mesh upper against our toes took a little getting used to (and we wonder how long it would last), but once we did we felt confident this shoe would perform.
