British women take top honours at Chateau de Chantilly triathlon

More than 500 British triathletes crossed the Channel for last weekend’s Chateau de Chantilly Triathlon in the Picarde region of France, including recently-crowned British Middle Distance champion Fraser Cartmell.

Cyril Viennot led the French team out, ably assisted by Victor Debil-Caux, Tony Baheux and Julie Nivoux. Racing for Team GB, Cartmell was accompanied by Mark Threlfall, David Bishop and Catherine Jameson.

After a fierce struggle Cyril Viennot won first place in the Olympic distance race with a time of 1:58:30, leaving Team GB’s Fraser Cartmell to take silver.

On to the women’s race and Catherine Jameson did Team GB proud with an excellent win in 2:14:54, finishing ahead of Sylvie Brun and Rachel Hallam.

Around 270 people were racing in half-iron distance race The Gauntlet, with Arnaud Edus winning the men’s race in 4:17:58, and Team GB’s Alison Rowatt winning the women’s half in 4:51:23.
