ESC D3 triathlon club launched in Ealing

Ealing Swimming Club, the country’s largest swimming club, is launching a new triathlon club - ESC D3 Triathlon - based at Gurnell Leisure Centre in Ealing.

Ealing Swimming Club, the country’s largest swimming club, is launching a new triathlon club – ESC D3 Triathlon – based at Gurnell Leisure Centre in Ealing.

Johnny Wright, General Manager of Ealing SC, said, “This is the result of an excellent working partnership between Ealing Council, Triathlon England, D3 and ourselves.

“It isn’t our first involvement with triathlon: Michelle Dillon and Stuart Hayes swum with our elite Squad prior to competing in the Athens Olympics in 2004 and a number of triathletes have swum with our Masters over the years.

“We already have an active and growing Masters section, we’re energetically building junior and senior water polo and, by creating a triathlon club, we can offer older swimmers another legitimate and relevant choice.

“Athletes from D3 will form the initial kernel of the new club but we hope we shall soon have a healthy number from all over West London. As in swimming and water polo, we hope the new club will soon be active in triathlon competition.”
