ITU to get its own Hall of Fame
First inductees to be named after WTS Grand Final in Edmonton, Canada this September
Who would you nominate as the best triathletes of all time? The ITU is planning to celebrate the sport’s top athletes with its own Hall of Fame, to be launched during the WTS Grand Final in Edmonton, Canada this September.
Up to 25 people will be shortlisted for this first annual induction by the ITU’s executive board, divided into the categories of elite female and male athlete accomplishments, and also lifetime achievements in the sport. Up to nine inductees will then be named during the closing ceremony of the WTS Grand Final later this year.
“ITU’s 25th anniversary is a landmark year to celebrate the success of all of those who have made triathlon what it is today,” said ITU President and IOC Member Marisol Casado. “Without the work, support and dedication of the athletes, leaders, officials and volunteers over the last quarter century, we would not be where we are today.”
