Review: Speedo Comp wetsuit

A no-frills suit, but a solid performer that’s supple and comfortable

Speedo Comp wetsuit

The Tri Comp sits right in the middle of the 2014 Speedo range and is aimed at competitive athletes looking for a good-value suit, rather than one with all the bells and whistles of a top-end model.

As such, the marketing blurb that accompanies it mentions few, supposedly, ‘high-tech’ features, other than some lighter neoprene catch panels on the forearms and SCS coating (common to many other suits we test) to reduce surface drag.

But the lack of gimmicks doesn’t mean this is a suit to be overlooked. The Comp is actually extremely supple in the upper body and has one of the most comfortable low-cut neck seals we’ve tested.

Additionally, the buoyancy is excellent in the thighs without being too high in the lower legs. The internal key pocket is a minor but useful addition if you’re using it for solo training sessions as well as race-day experiences.
