Human Race, one of the UK’s largest triathlon organisers, has confirmed that its founder John Lunt is leaving to take on fresh challenges and set up his own multisport consultancy business.

Over the past 13 years, Lunt helped create well over 40 events in triathlon, running and open water swimming events, including the Windsor Triathlon, The Ballbuster, Hampton Court Swim, Kingston Breakfast Run. He also played a key role in delivering the triathlon events during the 2012 London Olympics.

One of UK triathlon’s most colourful figures, Lunt undertook a ‘reverse-Movember’ last year, pledging to shave off his cherished 30-year-old moustache if the men of Human Race raised over £500 for charity by growing moustaches during November.

In 2012 he sold Human Race to Nick Rusling, formerly MD at London Triathlon organisers IMG, and fellow investors. Describing Lunt as a legend in the industry, Rusling said: “It has been an honour and privilege working with John over the past 20 months.”

John can be contacted via Linkedin and email.
