Cambridge is to host a new Olympic-distance triathlon this autumn, starting with a dip in the River Cam and finishing in the historic city centre.

The race will take place on 14 September, and starts at the Jesus Lock with a 1,500m swim in the Cam, followed by a 40km bike section out of town, and finishing with a 10km run along city centre routes.

Event director Adam Moffat expects around 3,000 people to take part in this first event, adding: “Cambridge has a big community of triathletes and runners, and we’ve been really pleased with the support we’ve had so far to get this event launched.”

Pre-registration is already open here, and general entries are expected to open next month.
