10. Brett Sutton quits TeamTBB
Rounding out the top 10 is the news that infamous coach Brett Sutton planned to leave the pro triathlete team he helped found to fight for “drastic change” in the sport.

Despite coverage lasting well into the night for our UK readers, the most famous race in world triathlon had lots of people looking for information on how to watch the Ironman World Championship.
8. Boardman launches new AiR/TTE
UK cycling legend Chris Boardman definitely picked the right time and place for launching his firm’s new top-end triathlon bike – in Hawaii, a few days before the Ironman World Championship.
7. Ali Brownlee clocks 28:32 10,000m
With his eyes on qualification for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, British star triathlete Alistair Brownlee posted a time of 28:32mins for the 10,000m in California last spring – one minute short of the entry cutoff.
6. F1 ace Jenson Button races Blenheim Triathlon
Inevitably, the appearance at a triathlon of one of UK sport’s true superstars drew much attention, with F1 driver Jenson Button posting an impressive 1:09:50 – 10 minutes behind winner Tim Don.
5. Challenge moving to Weymouth
After a troubled few years in Henley, race organisers Challenge confirmed their plans to move to the seaside town of Weymouth – to much celebration on all sides.

2. British age-grouper storms Kona
To the surprise of many (but not all), Britain’s Catherine Faux posted a faster time at the 2014 Ironman World Championship than defending champion Leanda Cave, despite coming from the rank-and-file of age-group entrants.
1. Chrissie Wellington responds to ‘”inaccurate” Evening Standard article
The British triathlon legend proved yet again that she is not afraid to speak her mind when she took Evening Standard columnist Simon Jenkins to task over an article he wrote which dismissed the ITU World Championship Finals as an “obscure event” that needlessly impeded his progress through the nation’s capital.
