Xterra England confirms €15k purse

Winners to take home €2k each

Xterra England has confirmed that the total prize pot for 2014 will be €15k (around £12.5k), making it one of the richest purses in UK triathlon.

This is unchanged from 2013, with €2k again to be awarded to the male and female winners at next year’s event, taking place on the Vachery Estate in Cranleigh, Surrey on 23-24 August.

Pro athletes confirmed to contest next year’s Xterra England include 2013 winners Ben Allen and Jacqui Slack, Scotland’s Lesley Paterson (who placed second in Maui last month) and Australia’s Nienke Oostra.

To put this in context, Challenge Weymouth will offer a €50k purse next year, while Ironman UK and Ironman Wales offer a $25k pot each, equivalent to around €18k (thanks to www.beyondgoinglong.co.uk for help with these details).
