Pearl Izumi Pro Thermal Lite

So simple a product, but ticks all the performance and value boxes

As the name suggests, these gloves provide a thin layer of protection on the bike and run, and are comprised of 99% polyester and 1% polyamide with a fleece inner for added comfort.

Fit is impressive, offering a fine balance of wrist coverage to either prevent draughts by melding with a long-sleeve base layer or give you enough room to view your HRM.

During runs they keep your hands comfortable without becoming a sweat fest and should see you through the winter.

With the added windchill on the bike, they’re fine for autumnal days but you’d need something more thermal as the winter nights draw in.

Mind you, they’re thin enough to slip under thicker gloves for added protection on bone-chilling rides.

The logos are reflective and silicone grippers on the thumb, index and middle fingers are a subtly effective idea for ticking off tactile tasks on the move (for instance, ripping open gel sachets).

The price is right, too.
