New "dual-personality" women's tri bike unveiled
Female triathletes have a new bike-shaped weapon for the 2014 season: the full-carbon Specialized Alias, described as “part high-performance road bike, part triathlon bike”.
Designed to allow women to train and race on the same machine, the Alias comes tri-ready with aerodynamic tube shapes and the option to add aerobars and a Remora storage box.
The frame geometry includes a fairly steep (77-78°) seat post and lets women switch between two positions easily, using an extra setback seat post for training or a zero offset seatpost for race day.
Five sizes are available, ranging from 44cm to 57cm. Pricing starts at £2,000 for the Alias Sport Tri (sporting Shimano 105 and Tiagra), up to £2,600 for the Ultegra-equipped Alias Comp Tri.
The US-only Alias Pro Tri completes the range, costing $6,000 and rocking Shimano Dura-Ace components and Roval Rapide CL 40 wheels.
