It’s Iron for Hever

Hever Castle to host The Bastion long-distance tri in July 2014

The Castle Triathlon Series has announced the launch of its first full iron-distance race at Hever Castle to be hosted on a weekend in July 2014 (official date to come on Monday 4 November).

The new race – suitably titled The Bastion – continues the well-known castle theme and has been created based on the success of this year’s inaugural Gauntlet, which saw 400 competitors enter the half iron-distance at The Hever Castle Triathlon in Kent.

The new 140.6-mile Bastion course takes in the countryside around the High Weald of Kent and Ashdown Forest. The course will loop sections of the existing Gauntlet route deemed as ‘tough but stunning’ by many competitors together with new course features.

The middle-distance Gauntlet, meanwhile, will now be offered at all five of the Castle Triathlon Series venues next summer, alongside children’s, junior, sprint to Olympic).

The Castle Triathlon Series is offering a hefty prize pot of just under £10,000 for those bold enough to take on the Bastion challenge.
