Challenge moving to Weymouth

Organisers confirm seaside town will replace Henley on race calendar

Challenge UK said this morning that the 2014 event will be held in the coastal town of Weymouth, Dorset, following three years in the Berkshire town of Henley.

The race will take place on 14 September, and open with a 3.8km sea swim in Weymouth bay, followed by a rolling 180km bike course through local countryside, and conclude with a 42.2km run along the seafront and through the town.

Entries will open tomorrow (24 October) and over 900 athletes have already pre-registered for the event, which will also offer a half-distance event (1.9km swim/90km bike/21km run) and a new Challenge kids event.

Weymouth councillor Ian Bruce commented: “We are very pleased that Challenge UK have chosen Weymouth as the ideal venue for this prestigious event, and we look forward to working with organisers Just Racing UK.”
