GB age-group team claims eight golds in standard distance
Successful weekend brings total World Champs medal haul to 83
Great Britain’s Age-Group Team has capped off their most successful year ever by winning eight gold medals in the standard distance event yesterday (15 September) at the ITU Age-Group World Championships in London.
With the sun finally shining on Hyde Park yesterday, Britain’s age-group athletes also won nine silver and ten bronze medals over a course that involved a shortened swim (750m) due to cooler temperatures, in line with ITU safety standards.
In total, this brings the total number of medals won over the course of the past week by GB’s 450-strong age-group team to 83: 10 golds, 10 silvers and seven bronzes in the aquathlon; 12 golds, 12 silvers and five bronzes in the sprint distance finals; and eight golds, nine silvers and 10 bronzes in the standard distance finals.
