British age-groupers get off to winning start

Elite juniors also see success

Great Britain’s Age-Group Team got off to a flying start at the World Triathlon Grand Finals in London today with ten gold medals at the Aquathlon Age-Group World Championships.

With 340 GB age-groupers in action today, David Bartlett was first past the line, coming second overall and winning silver in the 25-29 age-group behind Italy’s Isacco Andrenucci.

The first GB female to claim gold was Johanna Gascoigne-Owens in the 30-34 age-group, competing in the Great Britain Age-Group Team for the first time.

In the elite aquathlon races, Britain’s Morgan Davies won the Aquathlon Junior World title in the men’s race, while James Teagle took bronze. David Bishop won gold in the U23 race.

Finally, Melissa Reid (Tri-6b) and James Smith (Tri-3) both won gold in the paratriathlon races earlier today.
