Lucy Gossage triumphant at Ironman Wales
Second Ironman victory for Gossage this season
It was a British double victory at Ironman Wales in Tenby last weekend, with Lucy Gossage and Scott Neyedli overcoming a strong European field to triumph in the last European Ironman event of the season.
For 31-year-old Gossage this follows up the win she posted at Ironman UK in Bolton last month, racing hard in wet and changeable conditions to eventually finish in 9:51:21. Fellow Brit Joanna Carritt came fifth in 10:45:00.
In the men’s race, Harry Wiltshire (GBR) led out of the swim before suffering bike issues, leaving Scotland’s Neyedli to eventually storm home with a nine-minute lead, winning in a time of 9:09:10. Wiltshire eventually finished fifth in 9:29:08.
After the race Gossage said: “Seriously that was hands down the best race experience ever. The bike, it was amazing. Going up the (heartbreak) hill I was crying, the support was fantastic.”
