Jodie Swallow comes second in Challenge Walchsee

IM Sweden winner dominates the swim in Austria

Great Britain’s Jodie Swallow recorded yet another great performance last weekend, taking silver at the Challenge Walchsee event in Austria amid rainy conditions and fierce competition.

As winner of the recent Ironman Sweden, Swallow’s top form was evident in the 45-second lead she took out of the swim, although two-time course winner Yvonne van Vlerken (NED) overhauled her in the bike leg.

The Dutchwoman went on to win with a time of 4:19:13, followed shortly by Swallow. Finland’s Kaisa Lehtonen arrived nearly ten minutes later to take bronze.

In the men’s race, South Africa’s James Cunnama posted the fastest run split of the day, eventually taking gold in 3:55:43, followed by Timo Bracht (GER) then Todd Skipworth (AUS).
