Riva Sport Workstand
It might look like Russian army surplus but this cheap and cheerful unit is actually bloody good to work with. There’s a bit of bolting it together to be done first, but the finished Y-frame design is rattle free and stable enough to be perfectly safe on flat floors.
Mounting the bike is easy: just sit the bottom bracket into the plastic trough, swing the rubber coated hook over the down tube and then tighten it up. Two metal bars then fold forward to hold the front wheel straight, so you can work on either side without interference.
It won’t work on exotic aero frames, but if you use a strap instead of the hook it’ll manage really big down tubes fine. Plus if you’re tinkering with gears or using the low-slung tool tray, it’s an ideal height for adjusting brakes, cockpit or saddle components, and at £34.99 it’s an absolute bargain.
