Ironman Wales entry closes soon
Midnight deadline on Wednesday for the Tenby-set corker
Following record demand for entry, Ironman Wales will close its online entry this Wednesday 5th June at midnight.
Taking place on Sunday 8th September, Tenby in Pembrokeshire for the third successive year, Ironman Wales has seen its 1,800 capacity sell out in record time, with entries of all ages and abilities from across the globe.
While Ironman Wales is arguably one of the toughest on the European tour, its sensational atmosphere and spectacular setting has also earned its reputation as one of the best too.
World leading Pro Ironman athlete, Andreas Raelert, recently commented, “I have heard so many good things about Ironman Wales. Everybody I know who has raced there says amazing things about this race.”
This 2.4 mile sea swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run, attracts athletes of all levels of ability with over 50% competing in this ultimate endurance event for the first time.
For those athletes hoping to qualify for the 2014 IRONMAN World Champioship, Ironman Wales is also a great opportunity to try and qualify early as it will enable you to focus on preparing for it over 12 months.
2013 will also see the return of IRONKIDS Wales, which attracts some 400 children aged 4 to 15 taking part in a swim, run event on North Beach on Saturday 7 September.
Athletes can also combine their racing with making a significant contribution to official charities Scope or Macmillan Cancer Support. Both charities offer guaranteed entries with an initial £99 to pay along with a commitment to fundraise £1,000 for their great cause.
Athletes interested in finding out more about racing for Scope or Macmillan Cancer should contact them via events@scope.org.uk or triathlon@macmillan.org.uk
