TRIceland Triathlon Training Camp in Iceland 2013 confirmed

Ex-Olympians Alan Rapley and Rebecca Romero plus top coach Tim Williams set for weeklong camp in proposed location for Ironman Iceland

TRIceland ehf, a new company formed by UK based Icelandic triathlete Siggi Martinsson, will be hosting a triathlon training camp in Iceland in the summer of 2013.

Between the 14-22 of July 2013 40 UK based triathletes will join 10 Icelandic triathletes from the budding triathlon community in Iceland for a training camp.

The location is the small village of Laugarvatn, just outside of the capital city of Reykjavik.

IRONMAN ICELAND COMMETH?

Laugarvatn has recently been in the news as the proposed location of Ironman Iceland which the World Triathlon Corporation is currently exploring the possibilities of starting up.

Despite its small size, Laugarvatn has an impressive amount of high quality sporting infrastructure including: a heated six lane swimming pool, a fully equipped strength and conditioning facility, a large sports hall, an athletics track, a large lake with geothermal water supply suitable for open water swimming and a fully equipped sports laboratory by virtue of it being the location of the University of Iceland’s Sports Science Department.

The coaching team running the camp consists of British Triathlon Swim Consultant Alan Rapley, ex Olympic and World Champion Rebecca Romero, ex Olympian and World Champion Toby Garbett and Tim Williams, former coach of World Champion Emma Pooley and Olympian Will Clarke.
