Brooks Infiniti

Lightweight, breathable and the protective MP3 player pocket is a great touch

The Infiniti is a light jacket that’s more like a traditional shell than many of the softshell alternatives on the market.

It features plenty of vents and breathes well, making it better for faster sessions or warmer days. The shell itself is water repellent but not waterproof, so only offers moderate protection if you’re caught in really bad weather. Inside one of the two hip pockets is a neat, waterproof MP3 player sleeve that protects anything up to the size of an iPod Nano.

It’s well-crafted with a fleece-lined collar and tab covering the zip top for comfort and, though it’s quite dark, it does have reflective piping and decals that can be seen from all angles. The cut is generous and the long arms ensure that, on colder days, you can tuck your hands inside for the first few minutes of a run.
