Mud & Mayhem comes to Delapre Abbey

14th Century abbey to host off-road duathlon in October

14 October 2012 sees the Mud & Mayhem series heading to Delapre Abbey for the Mud & Mayhem Autumn Duathlon.

The first round of this off-road multisport series in Thetford saw over 300 competitors race either the Duathlon or 10K and, with many planning to return to Delapre, the expectation is for a large field at the new venue.

The loop format combines some rewarding single track through the trees with some open grassland allowing plentiful overtaking opportunity.

This is a new format for Delapre after the success of an open-water triathlon at the venue in 2011, and a hugely popular running festival on Easter Sunday.

The run provides a beautiful mix of lakeside running and forest trails, and fast times are anticipated on a predominantly flat course.

A commemorative cycle jersey for all duathletes and a race t-shirt for all runners, combined with great courses, free refreshments, enthusiastic support and the imposing backdrop of a 14th Century listed building.
