Louis Garneau Elite Lazer Tek Shorts and Jersey
Competitively priced triathlon suit, and very comfortable too
French manufacturer Louis Garneau has a history of innovation. In 2002 it was the first company to market a fully aero teardrop cycling lid that met the regulations as a crash helmet rather than just ‘head fairing’.
These days their helmets are worn by Chrissie Wellington and yellow jersey extraordinaire Thomas Voeckler (in the Tour).
LG’s 2011 triathlon apparel has been wind tunnel tested, resulting in golf ball-inspired dimples and sleek Lazer Tek bands around the legs and arms, which offer optimal aerodynamics and comfort.
This two-piece set-up is competitively priced alongside other top-end tri kit and, it has to be said, is extremely comfortable to boot.
Neat touches include a long front zip, great for venting in hot weather; covered and angled pockets in the jersey for gels; and a very bike-friendly chamois, which is unobtrusive on the run.
There’s very little to complain about except, possibly, the lack of a drawstring on the shorts (how well they’d withstand diving we’re not sure) and the fact that the branding is rather loud. Unless, by sheer coincidence, your name happens to be Louis Garneau, this might be a bit much.
The shorts and jersey are priced at £74.99 each.
