Inov-8 Road-X 255

Inov-8 has always made innovative shoes that work naturally with the biomechanics of the foot and, with the continued focus on forefoot running, what better time to make the move from trail to road?

The new range of shoes aims to transition you from a heel-cushioned shoe to a flat forefoot racer. The 255 is the first in the series, with a 9mm raise from fore to rear foot, followed with shoes of 6mm, 3mm and 0mm rises.

The more traditional height of the 255 allows anyone to jump into these and get running. The ride is smooth with a great feel for the road while heel or forefoot running, but the latter is where they really excel.

The sole is totally flat, which provides a planted feel and solid toe-off. Fit is comfortable with a wide, surprisingly secure hold and is also fine for short, sockless efforts. The price may seem high for a shoe with minimal ‘technology’ but the quality and ride make it a tempting purchase.
