Lance Armstrong to race Ironman in 2012
Seven-time Tour de France champion confirms he will be racing long-course triathlon
Lance Armstrong, the seven-time Tour de France winner has confirmed via his official Twitter feed that he will be racing Ironman Triathlon this year.
Armstrong, who last year competed in the Xterra World Championships, started off his sporting career in triathlon before making the switch to road cycling. Unfortunately, a crash ended his chances at Xterra, even though he was going well at the time, and now he seems determined to have a go at an even tougher challenge: Ironman.
Armstrong tweeted: “After 20 yrs of getting the question I’m happy to say YES I will be racing in a @ironmantri in 2012”
He hasn’t said which race he’ll be aiming for yet, so keep your eyes open for further details…
