Liverpool Triathlon 2012 entries open

Fourth running of Liverpool Tri set for July

Entries for the 4th Liverpool Triathlon opened today with organisers, World Endurance UK, promising an increase in numbers to this already highly popular race. The race will be held on the 1st July around the historic Albert Dock area of Liverpool.

The Liverpool Triathlon offers a complete day of racing from pro athletes, age groupers and those just wishing to have a go! Last year close to 1500 people tackled a variety of distances in the Sprint, Supersprint and 5150 distance.

Returning for a 2nd year will be the pro field to the 5150 race. Last year saw a battle in the men’s race between Stuart Hayes and Fraser Cartmell, with Liz Blatchford holding of a strong field to take victory in the women’s race.

The 5150 series puts Liverpool Triathlon in esteemed company as it lines up alongside events in New York, Miami, Washington and Zurich. As part of the 5150 series Liverpool Triathlon acts as a qualifying event for the Hy-Vee Triathlon, in Des Moines Iowa, the worlds richest triathlon with a prize fund of $1.1m, both pro athletes and age group athlete have the opportunity to claim a place at the Hy-Vee Triathlon, which also acts as the US Championship, at Liverpool Triathlon.

The Liverpool Triathlon offers fast safe racing on closed roads in Liverpool city centre and takes in many of the iconic sites of the city making it an ideal event for athletes of all abilities from pro athletes to first timers. You don’t need superhuman fitness to enter the event, if you can swim for 10minutes, cycle for 30minutes and run for 15minutes you too can be a triathlete on 1st July 2012, and if taking part as an individual seems too much for you, you can also enter the 5150 and sprint distances as part of a team.
