Spiuk ZS1-R
There are two models of ZS1-R, this one being the lower-priced, non-carbon version, with an additional 10g per shoe.
It’s not as glossy as its carbon namesake, and has the same outsole as the cheaper dhb R1 shoe, which is disconcerting given the price difference.
But the ZS1-R makes more use of the interchangeable winter and summer insoles, with large vents along the length of the foot.
A common trait among the two, however, is that you get the same excellent ratchet closure and easy-to-manage straps, and there’s also more attachment options.
In terms of feel, the differences are marginal but with smaller, two-bolt cleats you’ll notice the lack of stiffness. At high tensions the outsoles also buckle slightly, causing a pinching discomfort, but this certainly shouldn’t put you off.
