Mavic Tri Race

Out of the box the Mavics scream quality and, when you pick them up, their lightness and stiffness is instantly impressive. All of the key tri-specific features are present including a large in-to-out strap, heel-toe bumpers and a large heel loop.

The inner is soft and comfortable in bare feet and is treated with an anti-bacterial agent to curtail pongs. The smaller Ergo strap system allows for three levels of fine fit adjustment and does a pretty good job. We just found it a bit fiddly and, for such an expensive shoe, a ‘string system’ is a bit crude. Once on you can’t argue with the fit and comfort.

In terms of performance the Mavics are second to none and there’s no real sense of lost power due to flex. Even more impressive for such a light and stiff shoe is that road buzz and hot spots are almost non-existent.
