Tim Don set to race Windsor

Brit elite signed up for iconic Windsor event in June

Tim Don, the current British Triathlon Super Series champion is set to race the Toshiba Windsor Triathlon on Sunday 12 June, as he aims to deliver a strong early season performance in defence of his title.

The race is the third event of the 2011 British Triathlon Super Series, and has additional prestige this year of hosting the 2011 British Elite Triathlon Championships.

Last year’s British Elite Triathlon Championships saw Britain’s world class athletes come out in force at the GE Parc Bryn Bach Triathlon, with the Brownlee brothers crossing the line together and Helen Jenkins taking the plaudits in the women’s race.

Tim will be aiming to get his Super Series title defence off to a winning start next weekend as he races at the GE Strathclyde Park Triathlon on 22 May, the first race of the Super Series before adding valuable ranking points in Windsor.

Tim is excited about the chance to race at Windsor commenting: “Racing in Windsor is always a great experience. The event is always well organised and as an athlete you have great support from the crowd. With the additional prestige of racing for the British Elite Championship, I will be giving it my best to finish on the top of the podium.”

British Triathlon’s Director for Major Events, Ian Braid is also looking forward to the event commenting: “The British Elite Triathlon Championships completes the elite calendar for 2011. The Toshiba Windsor Triathlon will provide a perfect platform for our elite athletes like Tim Don to promote our fast growing, dynamic and modern Olympic sport and at Windsor, I expect yet another memorable event.”

John Lunt MD of Human Race added: “We are honoured and delighted to be hosting the British Elite Championship at Windsor. It’s the event’s 21st birthday this year and this will be a fitting tribute to the fantastic sport of triathlon coming of age.”
