New Balance WRTT885E

Of all the tights we’ve tested these probably had the strangest cut, feeling too tight across the quads and almost too baggy behind the knees and around the ankles. That said, triathletes come in all shapes and sizes, so be sure to try before you buy.

These tights may not have the stylish looks of some, but they certainly have plenty of great features. The Lightning Dry fabric from which they’re made is designed to wick sweat away from the skin and keep you dry. There’s no soft-brushed inner lining, though, so you could still be left feeling the chill on wintry days.

Mesh panelling, in New Balance’s nine-iron grey, runs across the thigh, behind the knee and across the shin, while reflective piping and logos will help make you more visible when running after dark. To finish them off, a good-sized zip pocket sits on the left hip to store keys, gels, gloves and so on…
