Jonas Deichmann has announced that he’s broken a key triathlon world record. The German adventurer has completed the highest number of long-distance triathlons on consecutive days, breaking records previously held by Sean Conway and before that by James Lawrence ‘The Iron Cowboy’.
Late on Thursday 12th August, Deichmann posted on Instagram that he had crossed the finish line of his 106th long-distance race in 106 days, using the iconic Challenge Roth course for each day.
“Today I finished my 106 long-distance triathlon in a row @challengeroth,” he wrote. “For 106 days, I executed an Ironman-distance triathlon every day. With that I am the alone-standing world-record holder.”
“A huge thank you to the local community, who supported me outstandingly, each and every day. Thank you to team @challengeroth for hosting this world record attempt and organizing the surroundings. And finally a huge thanks to my family and my team, who made this world record possible.”
What is the long-distance world record?
A long-distance triathlon comprises a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run. By completing 106 in a row Deichmann holds the new world record. The existing record stands at 105 triathlons in 105 days and was set by Sean Conway in 2023.
Deichmann has said he’s not done yet though. The endurance athlete has pledged to continue to his original goal of completing 120 in a row.
“But with that, my project is not over. I will toe the start-line for 14 more days to complete #challenge120 […] Today it‘s time to celebrate, tomorrow it’s focus on the next 14 long-distances.”
Will he make it to 120? Our money’s on yes… But the big question is, who will try to beat that unbelievable record next?!
