Consultant rhinologist

Dr Pavol Surda, FRCS (ORL-HNS) PhD, is a consulant rhinologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. His practice covers the whole breadth of rhinology with a specific focus on the management of snoring, sleep-disordered breathing, nasal deformities, advanced sinus surgery, sinonasal cancer and skull base surgery. He graduated from University of Bratislava Medical School and his postgraduate training took him to the Czech Republic, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom. He completed a rhinology and facial plastics fellowship at St George’s Hospital in London and second fellowship at the Academic Medical Centre University Hospital in Amsterdam. He sits on the executive board of the European Rhinologic Society and his research primarily focus on 'rhinitis in athletes' where he completed his PhD has written and co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 5 book chapters. He has also awarded several academic prizes for his research, including the European Rhinologic Society travel grant and Ilorin Award of Excellence. Pavol is a former professional triathlete. He was part of the Slovakian Triathlon Olympic Team and was awarded the Fair Play prize by the Olympic Committee. He continues to participate in triathlons where he regularly makes the podium, not only in his age-group but in the overall race.
